Iran Says Reopening Strait of Hormuz Depends on US Conditions, Not Oman Talks

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz will not be determined by ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman, but by whether the United States accepts Iran’s conditions.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi said the reopening of the strategic waterway would depend on specific mechanisms and conditions set by the Islamic Republic.

The statement comes after a U.S. official said on Friday that progress had been made in discussions between Iran and Oman, raising hopes that the Strait of Hormuz could soon reopen.

The waterway is a critical route for global oil shipments, and its disruption during the five-month-old U.S.-Iran war has affected energy exports and increased concerns over global oil supplies.

Iran’s latest position appears to indicate that an agreement between Tehran and Muscat alone would not be enough to restore normal shipping through the Strait. If you want, I can also make it shorter and more suitable for a Facebook/news-page post.
