Armed Bandits Attack Ondo Community, Kidnap Pastor’s Nine-Year-Old Son, Destroy Houses

Armed bandits have attacked the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, destroying property and abducting a nine-year-old boy during a midnight raid.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday when the attackers stormed the community around 1 a.m., firing sporadically to scare residents. Two houses were destroyed during the invasion, while the gunmen abducted a child identified as Oluwatobi, the son of a local pastor, Isaac Olaosebikan.

Residents said the attackers’ gunfire forced many people to flee their homes into nearby bushes and neighbouring communities for safety.

The Ondo State Police Command (Nigeria Police Force) confirmed the attack, stating that a manhunt had begun to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators.

According to police spokesperson DSP Abayomi, the command received reports that armed men invaded Ugbosi Quarters, Idogun, at about 1:30 a.m., firing shots and causing panic across the area.

He explained that the attackers forced their way into the pastor’s residence, but the father escaped into the bush, leaving his son behind, who was then abducted.

Security operatives, including police tactical teams and local vigilante groups, have since launched coordinated search-and-rescue operations in nearby forests and escape routes.

The police added that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe rescue of the child and the arrest of those responsible.
