Son of Former Mexican President Says US Revoked His Visa

Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, the son of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, says the United States has revoked his visa, accusing senior US officials of making a politically motivated decision.

López Beltrán, widely known as “Andy,” made the claim in a letter addressed to US President Donald Trump. He said US authorities had not provided evidence linking him to any crime or wrongdoing.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she was unaware of any investigation by Mexican prosecutors involving López Beltrán. She described the US visa revocation as interference in Mexico’s internal politics and an issue of national sovereignty.

The Trump administration has previously revoked the visas of at least 50 Mexican politicians and officials as part of its campaign against organized crime and drug trafficking.

López Beltrán recently stepped down from a leadership position in the ruling Morena party, which was founded by his father. He is preparing to seek a seat in Mexico’s lower house of Congress in the 2027 midterm elections.

He urged President Trump to review the decision, describing the visa revocation as a politically driven action. The US Embassy in Mexico declined to comment, while the US State Department had not immediately responded to requests for comment.
