Mohammed El-Rufai, the lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has celebrated his parents, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and his wife, Asia, as they mark their 27th wedding anniversary.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Friday, Mohammed described his mother as the “glue” of the family, praising her compassion, intelligence and commitment to helping vulnerable people.
He recalled how his mother took him back to Zaria Academy when he was in JSS1 and described her as an avid reader and brilliant lawyer whose compassion extended beyond the family.
According to him, Asia devoted herself to supporting widows and orphans during her husband’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
Mohammed also credited his mother with shaping his values and influencing his approach to representing the people of Kaduna North.
He said his mother’s teachings and guidance had contributed significantly to the good work he continues to do for his constituents.
Reflecting on his parents’ marriage, the lawmaker said he had witnessed his mother’s unwavering support for his father throughout different stages of his life.
He described her strength and presence as a source of comfort, particularly while his father continues to face what he referred to as “illegal detention.”
Mohammed said the 27th anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate his parents’ journey, cherished memories and the positive impact they have had on many lives.
He prayed for continued blessings, good health, peace and many more years of happiness for his parents.
He also appealed to residents of Kaduna North to remember the couple in their prayers.
