Nasarawa Governor Submits Eight Commissioner Nominees for Assembly Approval

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has forwarded the names of eight commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly as part of efforts to strengthen his administration in the final months of his tenure.

The nominations were announced during Wednesday's plenary session in Lafia by the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, who read the governor's letter before lawmakers.

The nominees are Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo (Wamba), Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed (Lafia), Mohammed Baba Shehu (Keffi), Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye (Obi), Adamu Rebecca Kpadji (Wamba), Nawani Aboki (Doma), Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, FCNA (Nasarawa), and Ashefo Daniel Paul (Lafia).

Speaker Jatau directed the Clerk of the House to notify the nominees to submit 30 copies of their curriculum vitae and appear before the Assembly for screening on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The latest nominations come less than two weeks after the Nasarawa State Government carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle involving six commissioners. The restructuring was aimed at improving governance and ensuring the administration delivers on its remaining priorities before the end of its tenure.

Speaking after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia on July 22, the Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Magaji (SAN), said the affected commissioners were asked to step aside as part of the cabinet reorganisation.

The ministries affected by the reshuffle include Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Other Sundry Matters.
