An Israeli drone strike has wounded six people in Lebanon’s Hermel district near the Syrian border, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
The ministry said on Friday, October 10, 2026, that the victims included five Syrian nationals, two of them women, and one Lebanese citizen.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the attack targeted a vehicle in the area, which has largely been spared Israeli strikes since a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was agreed in June.
The Israeli military said it targeted a Syrian individual it described as a terrorist, alleging that he operated under the direction of the Iranian government and had planned and advanced attacks against Israeli forces in southern Syria.
The strike comes amid continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Syria despite the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.
Since the removal of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, Israel has conducted hundreds of air strikes in Syria. Israeli forces have also entered the United Nations-monitored buffer zone separating Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights, an area established under a 1974 agreement.
Israel has further carried out repeated incursions into Syrian territory, with reports of residents being detained during some operations.
Meanwhile, Israel has maintained its attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire and has vowed to keep its forces in designated security zones along its borders with both countries.
Last month, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa addressed the United Nations General Assembly, condemning Israeli military actions and warning that they threatened Syria’s fragile post-war recovery.
Al-Sharaa said Israel had carried out 500 air strikes, more than 1,200 incursions and 300 detentions in Syria. He called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory and urged the international community to uphold the 1974 agreement establishing a United Nations-supervised separation zone between the two countries.
The latest strike highlights continuing regional tensions and the challenges facing efforts to maintain stability along the Israeli-Lebanese and Israeli-Syrian borders.
