Analyst Urges US to Honor Islamabad MoU and Restart Iran Talks.

A political analyst has called on the United States to comply with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and return to negotiations with Iran, arguing that diplomacy remains the only viable path to resolving the conflict.

Sa'd Nimr, a professor of political science at Birzeit University, said the United States has intensified its military operations because President Donald Trump believes Washington has already gained the upper hand in the conflict.

According to Nimr, recent attacks have increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure, while Iran has continued to respond across the region and maintains strategic leverage through key maritime routes.

He argued that Washington is underestimating Iran's resilience and warned that military action alone is unlikely to achieve lasting objectives. Instead, he said, the United States will eventually have to resume diplomatic engagement and implement the commitments outlined in the Islamabad MoU.

Nimr maintained that renewed negotiations offer the best chance of reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.
