Police Hold AI Leadership Workshop to Modernize Law Enforcement in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has concluded its second AI-POL Leadership Dialogue Workshop in Abuja, bringing together senior police officials, technology experts, and international partners to explore the use of artificial intelligence in policing and public safety.

During the workshop, participants discussed practical applications of AI in security operations, emerging technological challenges, and global best practices for responsible AI adoption in law enforcement.

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasized that artificial intelligence is already transforming security agencies worldwide and should be embraced as a tool for improving policing effectiveness and accountability.

The event also featured discussions on outcomes from the Fifth Global Meeting on AI and Law Enforcement, where Nigeria was identified as a priority partner for the African AI Policing Pilot initiative.

Police spokesperson Anthony Placid said attendees were encouraged to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop within their various commands to strengthen service delivery and community safety.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, responsible AI governance, and partnerships aimed at building a more efficient and citizen-focused policing system.
