APC Candidate Wins Gombe Federal Constituency By-Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Kallamu secured 41,121 votes to defeat four other candidates in the election conducted to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives.

The seat became vacant following the death of the former representative of the constituency, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.

Announcing the result on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Umar Gurama, declared Kallamu the winner after he secured the highest number of votes.

According to the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC received 41,121 votes, while the Labour Party polled 3,553 votes.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) scored 872 votes, the Nigeria Democratic Party received 707 votes, while the African People’s Party secured 298 votes.

Professor Gurama said a total of 47,301 votes were cast, with 46,551 recorded as valid votes and 750 rejected.

The election was conducted across 903 polling units in 31 Registration Areas covering Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas.

With the victory, Kallamu will represent the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the remainder of the current legislative tenure.
