The World Bank has unveiled a new 2026–2032 partnership framework aimed at expanding electricity access to 32 million Nigerians and providing 58 million additional people with broadband internet access.
The programme will also support 9.5 million farmers by improving agricultural production, value addition and market access. In addition, the World Bank Group plans to mobilise $4.1 billion in private capital for infrastructure and agribusiness.
The framework will focus on job creation, private-sector growth, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, access to finance for small businesses, agriculture, healthcare, education and social protection.
The World Bank currently has a $15.9 billion portfolio involving 30 projects in Nigeria and says the new framework will concentrate resources on programmes capable of delivering measurable, large-scale results.
