Mark Zuckerberg Buys Historic 19th-Century Castle in Ireland

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has purchased a 19th-century Gothic-style castle in southeastern Ireland, according to Reuters.

The property, known as Strancally Castle, overlooks the River Blackwater and was built around 1830. It underwent major renovations in 2003.

The purchase was not recorded in Ireland’s state property price register, but The Irish Times estimated the castle could be worth between €20 million and €30 million.

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg said he and his family were excited to take care of the historic property and spend time in Ireland.

Zuckerberg’s purchase comes as Meta maintains a significant presence in Ireland, where the company employs about 1,500 people and has its European headquarters.
