The Supreme Council of Tijaniyya Worldwide has paid a condolence visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the death of renowned Islamic scholar and former leader of the Tijaniyya movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
A delegation representing the council, with members from Algeria, Nigeria, and Senegal, visited the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. The delegation said it represented over 400 million Tijaniyya followers across the world.
Leading the delegation was the Khalifa of Tijaniyya in Algeria, Sheikh Ali Bin Arabi, alongside members of the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Foundation led by Khalifa Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
During the visit, Sheikh Ali Bin Arabi expressed condolences to President Tinubu and highlighted the long-standing spiritual relationship between Nigeria and Algeria. He prayed for lasting peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria, as well as good health and divine guidance for the President.
"We will continue to pray for the strengthening of the spiritual relationship between Nigeria and Algeria, and for peace, love, and stability in Nigeria," he said.
In his response, President Tinubu thanked the delegation for the visit and paid tribute to the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, describing him as a respected religious leader and father figure.
"We miss our father, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. He was a beloved father and a great leader," the President said.
President Tinubu also praised the Tijaniyya movement for its contributions to the growth of Islam across Africa and beyond, praying that God would continue to bless and guide its members in their mission.
