A 23-year-old Nigerian, Michael Chiedu Nwanze, has been sentenced to 13 months in prison in the United Kingdom after leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Northampton.
The incident occurred on March 10 when police officers attempted to stop Nwanze after discovering he was driving an uninsured vehicle. Instead of pulling over, he allegedly fled, reaching speeds of more than 100mph while running red lights and endangering other road users.
The pursuit ended when heavy traffic trapped his vehicle near the Wilby Way roundabout, causing him to crash into several other vehicles.
Nwanze later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and failing to stop for police.
He was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court in June and ordered to serve 13 months in prison.
