At least six people were killed in overnight Russian attacks across eastern and northern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities, while Russia said its air defence systems intercepted 605 Ukrainian drones over its territory and the annexed Crimea.
Officials in Ukraine's Kharkiv region said three people, including two women and one man, were killed after Russian drones struck residential buildings in the town of Balakliya.
In the northern Sumy region, three more people lost their lives and at least 19 others were injured. Ukrainian police reported that 12 of the injured were wounded in an attack involving guided aerial bombs on the city of Sumy.
Elsewhere, two people were injured in Russia's attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region, while six others were wounded after a drone struck a van in the southern Kherson region.
In the Black Sea region, a Russian strike damaged the Guinea-Bissau-flagged cargo vessel Mera Queen, which was carrying wheat. The attack killed one crew member and sparked a fire, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ukraine says Russia has intensified attacks on its Black Sea ports in recent weeks, targeting key export routes and trade infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defence announced that its air defence systems destroyed 605 Ukrainian drones overnight. Russian authorities also reported minor damage to a logistics centre owned by e-commerce company Wildberries following a drone attack.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had successfully struck two oil refineries inside Russia, including the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Bashkortostan and the Slavnet-Yanos refinery in the Yaroslavl region. Russian authorities had not commented on the claims at the time of reporting.
