The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers and recovered 5,676 assorted suspected illicit drugs during a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the raids were carried out as part of the command's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, curb substance abuse, and improve public safety.
The suspects were identified as Umar Rabiu, 22, of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25, of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25, from Kuka village.
Police said the operation led to the recovery of a large quantity of suspected illicit substances, including Tramadol, Diazepam, Pregabalin, Exol tablets, codeine syrup, Indian hemp, rubber solution, Lara capsules, and other prohibited drugs.
Officers also recovered ₦93,626, which investigators believe are proceeds from illegal drug sales.
The Commissioner of Police praised the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication, noting that illegal drug trafficking remains one of the major factors contributing to violent crimes and other social vices, particularly among young people.
He warned those involved in the production, sale, distribution, or consumption of illicit drugs to desist or face legal consequences, stressing that the command will continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal drug networks across the state.
Police confirmed that the three suspects have been charged in court for prosecution.
