Police Arrest Suspected Child Trafficker in Abia, Rescue Six Children

The Abia State Police Command has arrested a suspected child trafficker and rescued six children believed to have been abducted in the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Nnamdi Lazarus from Mbano in Imo State, was apprehended following credible intelligence gathered by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit in Aba North.

Police said the suspect, who resides in Uratta, Aba, was allegedly keeping the children at his residence when officers carried out the operation.

All six children have since been safely reunited with their families, while investigations continue to uncover and arrest other members of the suspected child trafficking network.

The police added that the suspect will be charged in court after investigations are completed.

The Abia State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led operations, assuring residents that criminal elements will not be allowed to operate within the state.
