Erdogan Arrives in Saudi Arabia for Strategic Talks with MBS and Pakistan's PM

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday for a one-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and discussing key regional security issues with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to Turkish officials, the discussions will focus on expanding cooperation between the three countries, with particular attention on regional stability, maritime security, defence collaboration, and recent developments across the Middle East.

The visit comes amid heightened tensions following the recent US-Israel conflict with Iran, ongoing security concerns in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and renewed instability around the Strait of Hormuz.

Reports from regional media suggest the leaders could explore closer defence cooperation, although no official confirmation has been given regarding the signing of any formal military agreement. Officials from Ankara have described the visit as a routine diplomatic engagement centred on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Erdogan's trip also follows Saudi Arabia's recent launch of a multinational maritime security initiative designed to safeguard major international shipping routes, an effort that has received support from several countries, including Türkiye and Pakistan.

The meeting is expected to reinforce economic, security, and diplomatic cooperation among the three nations while addressing shared challenges affecting the wider Middle East.
