Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has given ₦20,000 each to 1,490 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, totaling ₦29.8 million.
The financial support is aimed at helping the corps members cover transportation and other immediate expenses as they begin their primary assignments across Kogi State.
The governor announced the donation during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch B, Stream II NYSC Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya, Kabba.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Aridaojo Anyebe, Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and empowerment.
He encouraged the corps members to be responsible members of their host communities and use the knowledge and skills acquired during their orientation to contribute to community development.
Ododo also urged them to uphold discipline, integrity, patriotism and dedication to service throughout their service year.
The governor assured the corps members that his administration would continue to support their welfare and safety while serving in Kogi State. He also appealed to host communities to provide a safe and welcoming environment for them.
The Kogi State NYSC Coordinator, Chris Tochi, said the corps members had undergone three weeks of physical, mental and moral orientation designed to prepare them for their service year.
She thanked Governor Ododo for his continued support, including previous donations of food items and financial assistance to corps members.
A total of 1,490 corps members were deployed to Kogi State for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II service year.
