Death Toll Hits 68 in Zimbabwe Boat Accident

The death toll from a boat accident on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe has risen to 68 after authorities recovered 22 more bodies, police said on Saturday.

The passenger boat capsized on August 11 during heavy winds. Initial investigations indicated that the vessel may have been overloaded when it overturned.

The latest figure was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on X.

The accident has become one of the country’s deadliest recent maritime disasters, with rescue teams continuing efforts to recover victims from the lake.
