APC Spokesman Hails Tinubu’s Performance, Says He Surpassed Past Leaders

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu has performed better than every democratically elected Nigerian president during their respective terms in office.

Morka made the statement during an interview with Channels Television while defending the Tinubu administration’s economic policies and overall performance.

According to the APC spokesman, Tinubu has surpassed the records of former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outperformed any president in his first term. He has outperformed any democratically elected president in this country in their terms,” Morka said.

When asked about the basis for the claim, Morka pointed to Nigeria’s economic performance, arguing that the current administration inherited an economy in serious difficulty.

He blamed much of the country’s economic challenges on previous administrations, particularly the 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party rule at the federal level.

However, Morka defended former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his administration as a transitional government that prevented the country from sliding further into crisis before Tinubu assumed office in 2023.

“Buhari was a stopgap president that really came to keep the country from tipping over the precipice,” he said.

Morka also defended the economic reforms introduced by Tinubu, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system.

He argued that the reforms had begun to produce positive results, particularly at the macroeconomic level, and said their impact was becoming increasingly visible.

“We have come out of the woods at the macroeconomic level,” Morka said.

Tinubu assumed office in May 2023 after winning the presidential election and has since implemented several major economic reforms aimed at restructuring Nigeria’s economy.

The APC spokesman’s comments come amid an ongoing national debate over the performance of the Tinubu administration, especially the impact of its economic policies on the living conditions of Nigerians.
