13 Dead, 7 Injured After Mine Collapse in Colombia

Thirteen workers have died and seven others were injured after a slope collapsed at an open-pit mine in Policarpa, in Colombia’s southwestern Nariño department, local authorities said.

Officials said the incident was caused by a landslide, rather than an explosion as initially reported.

Rescue operations involving firefighters, local residents and excavators continued until around 2 a.m., when authorities confirmed that all the missing workers had been found.
