Google Offers Nigerian Students Free AI Subscription for 12 Months

Google has launched a new initiative giving eligible students in Nigerian higher institutions free access to Google AI Plus for 12 months.

The programme, known as the Gemini Student Offer, is available to students aged 18 and above enrolled in accredited universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across Nigeria.

The subscription, valued at ₦92,400 per student, provides access to advanced AI tools, including Gemini Live, Deep Research, custom practice quizzes, unlimited file uploads and 400GB of cloud storage.

Students who benefited from the programme during the previous academic year can also renew their subscription after verifying their student status.

Google said the initiative is aimed at making AI-powered education more accessible to Nigerian students by reducing financial barriers.

The company also highlighted Guided Learning, a feature designed to act as a tutor by giving students hints and guiding questions rather than simply providing answers.

Eligible students can verify their enrolment through SheerID and claim the free 12-month subscription through Google’s student offer portal.
