Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Laid to Rest Following Funeral Prayers in Doha.

Funeral prayers were held on Sunday for Qatar's Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, following his death at the age of 74.

The funeral prayer took place after the Maghrib prayer at the Imam Mohammed ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha, where mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the former ruler who led Qatar from 1995 to 2013.

Family members, including Qatar's current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, joined worshippers in the ceremony before carrying Sheikh Hamad's body from the mosque for burial at Lusail Cemetery.

The funeral was conducted according to Islamic traditions, with a simple burial ceremony reflecting the late leader's wishes.

Qatar has declared an official mourning period until Wednesday. During this time, Emir Sheikh Tamim will receive visiting heads of state, foreign dignitaries, and members of royal families at Lusail Palace to offer condolences.

Sheikh Hamad is widely remembered for transforming Qatar into a major regional and global player during his 18 years in power, overseeing significant economic growth, diplomatic influence, and national development.
