Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the release of ₦2.11 billion to pay gratuities and death benefits to 772 retirees and families of deceased public servants across the state.
The approved funds will cover retired state and contract workers, former local government employees, retirees from Local Government Education Authorities, as well as the next of kin of deceased workers entitled to death benefits.
According to a statement issued by the Kebbi State Head of Service, Malami Shakari, the payment covers gratuities and death benefits that accumulated between September 16, 2025, and January 15, 2026.
The state government said the approval reflects Governor Idris' commitment to improving the welfare of workers, retirees, and bereaved families by ensuring prompt payment of their outstanding entitlements.
Officials added that the initiative is part of the government's ongoing efforts to clear unpaid retirement benefits and provide financial relief to retired public servants and the families of deceased employees.
