Engineer Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket as Nigeria's "healing ticket," saying the alliance offers the best opportunity to unite the country and address its long-standing political, ethnic and economic challenges.
Speaking during an interview with ARISE News, Galadima said the Kwankwasiyya movement threw its support behind Peter Obi because of its belief that a partnership between Obi and Kwankwaso could restore national unity, strengthen trust between the North and the South-East, and move Nigeria beyond decades of division.
According to him, the alliance is built on reconciliation rather than political convenience, stressing that Peter Obi should be regarded as a national leader instead of an ethnic candidate.
Galadima said discussions on the alliance had been ongoing for more than two years with respected stakeholders, adding that the goal is to heal historical wounds and promote peaceful coexistence across the country.
He disclosed that the coalition had identified insecurity, agriculture and education as priority areas, claiming Obi had pledged to personally lead efforts to tackle the challenges if elected president.
Defending the alliance against criticism, Galadima argued that there was nothing unusual about supporting a South-East presidential candidate, noting that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had previously selected several running mates from the region.
He also urged political actors to stop exploiting ethnic and religious differences, insisting that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is focused on national development rather than tribal or religious interests.
Galadima further promised that an Obi-led administration would prioritise job creation, agricultural development, skills acquisition and local manufacturing to revive the economy, reduce unemployment and improve food security across Nigeria.
