Israeli Forces Allegedly Kill Three-Year-Old Palestinian Boy in Central Gaza

A three-year-old Palestinian boy, identified as Rayan Abu al-Ajeen, was reportedly shot dead by Israeli forces in central Gaza, according to his family.

The incident occurred on Sunday in the Wadi al-Salqa area of the Deir el-Balah governorate. Family members said Rayan was being carried by his father, Bahaa Abu al-Ajeen, as they headed toward the family’s agricultural land when gunfire erupted.

According to relatives, the child was fatally struck in the head, while his father sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Bahaa is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, where doctors are monitoring his condition.

Rayan’s grandfather, Jaber Abu al-Ajeen, said the family was shocked by the incident. He stated that they later learned the child had died from his injuries and described the emotional impact on the family, particularly the boy’s mother.

The family maintains that the shooting took place outside areas under direct Israeli military control and near their greenhouses. They also alleged that Bahaa remained wounded for several hours before being transferred for medical care.

As of the time of reporting, the Israeli military had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.

The shooting comes amid continuing tensions and military operations in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement reached earlier in the conflict. Palestinian officials and humanitarian organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about civilian casualties in areas near military buffer zones.

The death of Rayan Abu al-Ajeen has drawn renewed attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the risks faced by civilians living near conflict zones.
