Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has praised Iran, saying Tehran played a key role in efforts to stop Israeli military operations against Lebanon.
In a message to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Qassem expressed appreciation for Iran’s support and said the Islamic Republic helped bring about what he described as an end to Israeli attacks on multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
Qassem said Iran had demonstrated continued backing for Lebanon and Hezbollah, adding that Tehran’s position reflected its stated support for resistance movements and Palestinian causes.
He also thanked Iranian officials involved in regional diplomacy, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as members of Iran’s armed forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), for their involvement in confronting the conflict.
The remarks came after increased tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, with Iran and the United States reportedly discussing arrangements aimed at ending hostilities in the region.
Iranian officials have said any lasting agreement must include an end to attacks on Lebanon and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they consider occupied.
