Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has stated that the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States is intended to apply across all conflict zones, including Lebanon, warning that any violation in one area would amount to a breach of the entire agreement.
In a statement posted on social media, Araghchi emphasized that the ceasefire is “comprehensive in scope,” covering multiple regional fronts. He warned that escalation in Lebanon could undermine the broader arrangement and said responsibility for any breakdown would fall on both Washington and Tel Aviv.
The remarks come amid reports of intensified Israeli military activity in Lebanon, including strikes on areas in and around Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israeli officials have said the operations were carried out in response to alleged violations by Hezbollah, which has continued cross-border confrontations with Israel during the ongoing tensions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the latest round of strikes, describing them as targeted operations against what he called militant positions. The escalation follows weeks of fragile calm in the region that has repeatedly been tested by renewed clashes.
Iranian officials have also warned that continued military escalation in Lebanon and other regional flashpoints risks collapsing existing diplomatic understandings. Tehran has called for a halt to hostilities and urged all parties to respect ceasefire commitments.
The situation remains highly volatile, with diplomatic efforts under pressure as military activity expands across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
