When switching from Android to iPhone, you can transfer your WhatsApp account information, profile photo, chats (individual, group, and communities), channel updates, chat history, media, and settings.
However, you cannot transfer your call history, display name, or media received through WhatsApp Channels.
Note: It is currently not possible to transfer chats from Android to iPhone using WhatsApp Business.
Requirements:
Android device running Lollipop (SDK 21) or higher
iPhone running iOS 15.5 or higher
Install the Move to iOS app on your Android phone
Latest version of WhatsApp on both devices
Use the same phone number on both devices
Your iPhone must be new or factory reset
Both devices must be connected to power
Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network (or Android connected to iPhone hotspot)
Steps to Transfer Chats:
1. Open Move to iOS on your Android phone and follow the instructions
2. A code will appear on your iPhone—enter it on your Android device
3. Tap Continue and follow prompts
4. Select WhatsApp on the data transfer screen
5. Tap Start on Android and wait for WhatsApp to prepare data
6. Tap Next to return to Move to iOS
7. Tap Continue to transfer data
8. Install WhatsApp from the App Store
9. Open WhatsApp and log in with the same number
10. Tap Start when prompted
11. Wait for the process to finish—your chats will appear.
Important Notes:
Data is not stored in the cloud during transfer until you create an iCloud backup
WhatsApp cannot see your transferred data
Your Android phone still keeps its data unless you delete it
You must transfer before activating WhatsApp on the new iPhone
You cannot merge old and new chat history
You cannot transfer chats if the new phone uses a different number
Call history cannot be transferred
