EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sadiya Farouq Wanted Over Alleged Fund Diversion

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has declared former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.

In a notice issued on Saturday, the EFCC said the 52-year-old former minister, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023, is being sought in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation.

The commission listed her last known address as EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja, and appealed to members of the public to provide information that could help locate her.

According to the agency, anyone with useful information should contact EFCC offices nationwide, the nearest police station, or reach the commission through its official communication channels.

The EFCC statement, signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, described the allegations as involving misuse and diversion of public funds during Farouq’s time in office.
