Israeli Attacks Leave Over 6,400 Palestinians Dead or Injured in Gaza Since Ceasefire

Islamic Relief Urges International Action as Gaza Faces Continued Attacks and Humanitarian Crisis

Israeli attacks have killed or injured a Palestinian in Gaza approximately every 90 minutes since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025, according to the UK-based humanitarian organisation Islamic Relief.

In a report released on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the charity said at least 1,454 Palestinians had been killed and more than 5,000 injured during the period. At least 320 of those killed were children, averaging nearly one child per day.

Figures from Gaza's Health Ministry put the death toll since the ceasefire at 1,471 Palestinians, with 5,189 others wounded. The ministry reported that four people were killed and 28 injured in the preceding 24 hours.

The ministry also said Israeli attacks had killed at least 74,254 Palestinians since October 2023.

On Thursday, Israeli forces reportedly killed a Palestinian southeast of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza. An Israeli air strike on a house in central Khan Younis also wounded several people, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy was shot in the foot during an Israeli military raid in Yamoun, west of Jenin, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported.

Humanitarian Conditions Continue to Deteriorate

Islamic Relief accused Israel of using the so-called Yellow Line, which marks the area under Israeli military control, to restrict Palestinian movement and push residents out of approximately 65 per cent of Gaza's territory.

The organisation said nearly 2.1 million Palestinians were being crowded into the remaining 35 per cent of the territory.

An Islamic Relief aid worker in Gaza, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, said residents continued to live in fear despite the ceasefire.

“There is no ceasefire in reality,” the aid worker said, describing attacks on displacement camps and densely populated areas.

The charity also said restrictions on shelter materials, fuel and medical supplies were worsening the humanitarian emergency.

According to the report, approximately 82 per cent of Gaza's structures have been damaged or destroyed, while more than half of its health services have shut down.

Additionally, more than 20,000 severely ill patients are reportedly unable to leave Gaza for medical treatment.

Islamic Relief Calls for International Intervention

Islamic Relief called on world leaders to increase pressure on Israel to protect civilians, facilitate humanitarian assistance and uphold international law.

The organisation warned that the ceasefire should not be used as a justification for international inaction while Palestinians continue to face deadly attacks and worsening living conditions.
