Uba Sani Approves Salary Increase for Kaduna Traditional Rulers

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved improved remuneration for traditional rulers across the state.

The new package covers paramount rulers, including Emirs and Chiefs, as well as district and village heads.

The Kaduna State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) commended the governor for the decision, describing it as a significant boost to the traditional institution and its role in promoting peace, security and grassroots development.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Sheikh Jamilu Abubakar Albani, ALGON said traditional rulers remain important partners in governance and serve as a vital link between government and local communities.

The association said the improved remuneration would motivate traditional leaders to strengthen their efforts in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, peaceful coexistence and community mobilisation.

It added that better welfare for traditional rulers would support efforts to tackle security challenges and promote peace across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.

ALGON also praised Governor Sani for strengthening the role of traditional institutions in his administration’s peace-building and development efforts.

The association, representing the 23 local government councils, pledged to continue working with the state government and other stakeholders to promote peace, security, good governance and sustainable development at the grassroots.

It also urged traditional rulers to reciprocate the gesture by strengthening cooperation with local government councils and relevant security and government agencies for the overall development of the state.
