Two Palestinian teenagers were killed on Wednesday during an attack involving Israeli settlers and Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank village of al-Mughayyir.
The victims were identified as 19-year-olds Mohammad Na’ssan and Khalil Abu Aliya, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.
Local sources said residents attempted to confront the settlers, after which Israeli soldiers opened fire, critically injuring two young men who later died from their wounds. Witnesses also reported that snipers had positioned themselves on rooftops before the shootings.
The incident comes amid rising violence in the occupied West Bank. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), at least 79 Palestinians, including 19 children, have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since the beginning of 2026, while at least 1,870 others have been wounded.
Al-Mughayyir has experienced repeated settler attacks, particularly along its main access road. In an August 20 attack, 11 Palestinians were reportedly wounded.
Tensions have also increased around Palestinian religious sites. On Tuesday, Israeli forces fired tear gas into a mosque in Madama, while settlers reportedly attempted to set fire to another mosque in nearby Bazariya.
The escalation has drawn criticism from some of Israel’s international allies. The European Union has been considering restrictions on goods produced by Israeli settlers, while a senior United Nations official recently said settler attacks were continuing with “virtually no accountability.”
The latest killings add to growing concerns over escalating settler violence and the deteriorating security situation across the occupied West Bank.
