The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a process allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses to update their details on the JAMB portal.
The examination body announced the development in a video shared on its X account on Wednesday, explaining the steps candidates must follow to access the service.
The move follows complaints from candidates who were unable to change their registered phone numbers or email addresses, leaving some unable to receive result notifications or access their JAMB profiles through their registered email addresses.
According to JAMB, candidates who have lost their SIM cards can now swap them for new numbers, while those who have lost access to their registered email addresses can also update them.
Steps to Change Phone Number or Email Address
1. Obtain a court affidavit: Candidates must visit a High Court and obtain an affidavit supporting their request for a SIM swap or email change.
2. Log into JAMB e-Facility: After obtaining the affidavit, candidates should access their JAMB e-Facility profile.
3. Select “Penalties”: From the e-Facility menu, select the “Penalties” option.
4. Select SIM Swap/Email Change: Choose “SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment” under the Penalties menu.
5. Pay the prescribed fee: Candidates must make the required payment through the JAMB portal.
6. Visit a JAMB office: After payment, candidates should visit the nearest designated JAMB office to complete the process. The service is available only at designated JAMB PTC/PRC Centres.
7. Provide profile details: Candidates will be required to provide their profile code and existing GSM number.
8. Complete biometric verification: The affected candidate will undergo biometric verification at the JAMB office.
9. Upload the affidavit: A scanned copy of the court affidavit must be uploaded to complete the process.
Who Can Access the Service?
JAMB said the service is intended for candidates with genuine cases involving loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.
The board also stated that the service can only be accessed once. Candidates are therefore advised to ensure that all information provided during the process is accurate.
