An Israeli airstrike in Gaza City has killed two Palestinians, including a 15-year-old schoolboy, in what Palestinian sources described as a “double-tap” attack.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood, north of Gaza City. According to Al Jazeera, an Israeli drone initially struck a group of Palestinians, injuring Palestinian Civil Defence paramedic Sharif Shadi Labad.
As residents and rescuers gathered to assist the wounded paramedic, a second drone reportedly struck the same location. The attack killed 15-year-old Mohammad Abdul Zinati and injured several others.
Zinati’s father said the teenager was returning home from school when the attack occurred.
Israeli forces said they were targeting Hamas operatives in the area.
A “double-tap” strike refers to an attack in which a location is struck again after people, including rescuers or first responders, have arrived to assist victims of an initial strike.
The latest incident comes amid continued violence in Gaza despite a US-brokered ceasefire announced in October 2025. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, six people were killed and 71 injured in Israeli attacks across the territory during the 24 hours before Wednesday.
The ministry also warned that Gaza’s healthcare system is nearing total collapse, citing shortages of fuel and medical supplies.
UNICEF has previously warned that children in Gaza continue to face severe risks from ongoing violence, with thousands reported killed or injured since the conflict began in October 2023.
