Iran Shuts Down French Language Centre in Tehran Over Alleged Illegal Activities

Iranian authorities have sealed a French language centre affiliated with the French Embassy in Tehran following a judicial order, according to Iran’s prosecutor’s office.

The semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that authorities accused the centre of operating for years under the guise of providing foreign-language education without obtaining the required licence, despite repeated warnings.

Iranian officials also alleged that the centre had engaged in activities considered harmful to Iranian culture and national security. These allegations include identifying and establishing networks and facilitating the departure of skilled Iranian citizens from the country.

The authorities did not provide further details about the alleged activities or indicate whether any arrests had been made.

The closure comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Western countries over security and diplomatic issues.
