Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says the Iranian Armed Forces have launched a series of retaliatory missile and drone attacks against US military bases and interests across the region.
According to the IRGC, the operations began on Tuesday in response to recent US strikes on targets inside Iran. The group said Iranian missiles and drones were targeting American positions in several locations.
The IRGC also reported that a recent US attack in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province, struck near a residential building during a wedding ceremony, killing four people, including a child, and injuring about 50 others.
The Iranian military said its retaliation would continue and warned that US actions had strengthened Tehran’s resolve to maintain the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC further claimed that Iran’s aerospace forces had shot down a 50th US MQ-9 drone.
In a separate statement, the IRGC said Iranian forces carried out a heavy ballistic-missile strike against Camp Titiin, described as a US Marine facility in Jordan near the Gulf of Aqaba. The group claimed that the attack killed a large number of US personnel, destroyed several facilities and damaged attack helicopters.
The claims have been made by the IRGC and should be treated as statements from an Iranian military source pending independent verification.
