Bayero, Court of Appeal Justice, Laid to Rest in Kano

Justice Abdullahi Mahmud Bayero of the Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division, who died last week in Cairo, Egypt, has been buried in Kano.

The funeral prayer was held at the Kano Emir’s Palace at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, with family members, colleagues, and members of the public in attendance.

He was subsequently laid to rest at the Farm Centre Cemetery in Kano.

Justice Bayero was promoted from the Kano State High Court to the Court of Appeal in 2018 and took his oath of office on June 22 of the same year.

He was widely respected for his integrity, fairness, and commitment to justice. During his career, he delivered notable rulings involving criminal case transfers, enforcement of fundamental rights, and capital offences.

His death has prompted widespread condolences and prayers from colleagues, relatives, and members of the community. Many have prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him the highest rank in Jannatul Firdaus.

Justice Bayero was also remembered as a disciplined and principled judge who contributed significantly to his community.

Beyond his judicial duties, he was known for his efforts in defending and promoting Islam in Kano during its formative years.
