Tragedy in Ondo as 4 Amotekun Officers Reportedly Killed in Criminal Ambush.

Four officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, were reportedly killed in an ambush by suspected criminals in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

However, the security agency confirmed that two of its personnel died in the attack.

According to the Corps spokesperson, Jimoh Adeniken, the incident occurred as the officers were leaving their operational base around the Ago-Oyinbo farming area, near Ala Daadaa in Akure North.

He said the officers were suddenly attacked by assailants, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Adeniken said one officer sustained fatal injuries, while two others also lost their lives during the attack.

He described the deceased officers as brave personnel who paid the ultimate price while carrying out their duties to protect residents.

Following the attack, reinforcements were deployed to the area to search for the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The Corps also increased patrols, security operations and intelligence gathering in the affected area to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

Adeniken said the Ondo State Government, the Corps Commander and the management of the agency sympathised with the families, colleagues and loved ones of the deceased officers.

The families of the victims also thanked the Ondo State Government and the Amotekun leadership for ensuring that the fallen officers received befitting burials. They appealed to the government to consider their relatives for future recruitment into the Corps.

The Amotekun Corps said it would not be discouraged by the incident and would continue working with other security agencies to protect lives and property.

The agency urged residents, particularly those living in farming communities around the affected area, to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could help security agencies apprehend the attackers.
