Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, has announced a ₦300 million bursary scheme for indigenous students of Kogi State studying in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The senator said the initiative is aimed at supporting education and youth development while reducing the financial burden on students and their parents or guardians.
Karimi made the announcement in a statement on Thursday, describing the programme as the third phase of his bursary intervention.
According to him, eligible students will have one month, beginning August 20, 2026, to apply through an online portal provided by his office.
He said the latest programme would distribute a total of ₦300 million in bursary awards as part of his commitment, in collaboration with the “Win With Tinubu” initiative, to support Kogi students and promote youth empowerment.
Karimi said the bursary was designed to provide financial assistance to students and bring the benefits of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots.
Students of public universities, polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education are eligible to apply.
The senator urged applicants to follow the official application procedure and ensure they have accounts with conventional commercial banks for the payment of the bursary. He specifically warned applicants against using online or fintech accounts for disbursement.
Karimi said the initiative was based on the belief that investing in students would contribute to the future development of Kogi West, Kogi State and Nigeria.
