Nigerian Troops Foil Midnight Terrorist Attack on Zamfara Military Base, Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims

Nigerian troops have successfully repelled a midnight terrorist attack on a military base in Zamfara State, killing several attackers and rescuing nine abducted civilians.

The attack occurred at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kasuwan Daji, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. According to military authorities, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA detected suspicious movements as armed terrorists attempted to storm the base under the cover of darkness.

Security personnel responded with heavy and coordinated gunfire, forcing the attackers to retreat after an intense exchange of fire.

Following the failed assault, additional troops launched a pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, who had abducted several residents during the attack. The operation led to the successful rescue of nine kidnapped civilians.

The military also dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that six security personnel were killed, clarifying that only one Army officer and one police officer lost their lives during the operation.

Military authorities described the failed attack as another major setback for terrorist groups operating in the region, reaffirming their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements in northwestern Nigeria.
