The Kebbi State Government has pledged to provide support to the families of 10 police officers killed by terrorists in an ambush in Sakaba Local Government Area of the state.
The officers were reportedly killed along the Rafin Makuku axis while carrying out security operations aimed at helping other security agencies combat terrorism in the area.
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, made the pledge when he received a delegation from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
The delegation was led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu-Nadada.
Governor Idris expressed condolences to the Nigeria Police Force and the families of the fallen officers, describing their deaths as a painful loss.
He said the state government would assist the families of the officers who died in the line of duty.
The IGP, through the DIG Operations, also expressed condolences to the governor, the people of Kebbi State and the families of the deceased officers.
He assured the state government that the police would intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.
The IGP also commended the Kebbi State Government for its support to the police and announced that a new police squadron would soon be established in the state.
