Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the Sultan as a respected traditional and religious leader whose decades of service have contributed significantly to peace, unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
Yusuf praised Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar’s leadership, saying it has provided guidance and stability on issues affecting Muslims and the country as a whole.
The governor also commended the Sultan for promoting unity among Muslims and encouraging dialogue and understanding across religious and ethnic divides.
According to Yusuf, through his leadership of the Sokoto Caliphate and the NSCIA, the Sultan has remained a strong voice for peace, tolerance and national unity. He added that the Sultan’s interventions on security, peaceful coexistence and national development have earned him respect both within and outside Nigeria.
Governor Yusuf said the Sultan’s 70th birthday was more than a personal milestone, describing it as an opportunity for Nigerians to recognise his contributions to national development and humanity.
He prayed for Allah to grant the Sultan good health, wisdom, strength and long life so that he can continue serving Islam, humanity and Nigeria.
Yusuf concluded by wishing the Sultan many more years of impactful leadership and divine guidance in carrying out his responsibilities as the spiritual and traditional leader of the Sokoto Caliphate.
