Israeli forces have arrested at least 23 Palestinians and demolished several homes across the occupied West Bank, as the United Nations warned that the situation in the territory is approaching a “breaking point.”
According to the Palestinian Wafa news agency, those arrested included two children, one of whom has a disability, as well as a man detained while grazing his livestock in al-Hadidiyah in the northern Jordan Valley.
At least 11 Palestinians were arrested in the Jenin governorate, while five others were detained in the Bethlehem area.
In the village of Tal, southwest of Nablus, Israeli forces demolished the family home of Farouq Ramadan, one of four Palestinians killed during a confrontation with Israeli settlers on July 24. Two Israelis were also killed in the incident.
Israeli authorities regularly demolish the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out deadly attacks against Israelis, describing the policy as a deterrent. Human rights groups have condemned the practice as collective punishment.
Near Yatta in the Hebron governorate, Israeli forces also demolished the home of Ibrahim Mifleh al-Atimin and filled in a water well, displacing nine members of his family, according to Wafa.
Settler Attacks and Further Demolitions
Israeli forces also demolished 12 commercial warehouses in Anza and bulldozed an agricultural facility in Yarza, east of Tubas.
In Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, Israeli authorities issued demolition notices for the Khallat al-Dabaa school, along with several homes and agricultural structures.
UN figures show that an average of 122 Palestinian buildings have been demolished every month in the West Bank this year.
Meanwhile, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians working on their land in Al-Mughayyir, injuring six people, including three children and two women. Reports said settlers also set part of the valley on fire and attacked nearby homes.
In Burqa, northwest of Nablus, six Palestinians, including two children, were wounded during an Israeli military raid, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent. Settlers also raided the villages of Awarta, Osarin and Sarra near Nablus.
The violence comes amid a broader escalation across the occupied West Bank as Israel prepares for parliamentary elections in October.
UN Warns of De Facto Annexation
Speaking before the UN Security Council, Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Ramiz Alakbarov warned that the West Bank was at a “breaking point.”
According to Alakbarov, Israeli forces and settlers have killed 76 Palestinians, including 18 children, in the West Bank so far this year. Around 3,800 Palestinians, nearly half of them children, have been displaced by settler violence, demolitions and evictions.
The UN has documented more than 1,430 settler attacks across approximately 260 Palestinian communities in 2026, resulting in deaths, injuries or property damage.
Since January 2023, 127 Palestinian communities have been fully or partially displaced, including 47 that have been completely uprooted, affecting more than 6,390 people.
Alakbarov also warned that settler attacks, previously concentrated mainly in Area C, where Israel exercises full civil and security control, are increasingly spreading into Areas A and B.
Israeli authorities have advanced or approved approximately 12,360 settlement housing units across the West Bank this year, including 5,160 in occupied East Jerusalem.
Alakbarov said the developments were interconnected and warned that they were reshaping the occupied West Bank, weakening Palestinian governance and advancing what he described as “de facto annexation.”
