Israeli Bombing in Lebanon Kills Woman Married Just Two Days Ago

A Lebanese woman was killed and six others were wounded after Israeli strikes hit the town of Arab Salim in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said those injured included a child, another woman and two elderly people. The state-run National News Agency reported that the woman who was killed had been married for only 48 hours. Her home was also destroyed in the attack.

Lebanese security sources said at least 10 Israeli strikes were carried out across the wider Nabatieh area. Artillery fire was also reported near Rashaf in the Bint Jbeil district.

The Israeli military said its forces were targeting Hezbollah positions after the Iran-backed group allegedly launched two explosive drones at Israeli soldiers operating near the Ali al-Taher ridge overnight. Israel said there were no casualties from the drone attack and claimed its strikes targeted Hezbollah weapons storage facilities.

Al Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr reported that the strike hit a residential area in Arab Salim. She said the area remains strategically contested and that Israel has been increasing military pressure on Hezbollah to leave the region.

The latest attacks come despite a reduction in violence following recent agreements involving Israel and Lebanon. However, Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon have continued.

Lebanon said an earlier wave of Israeli strikes on August 15 killed 11 people, including several children. Israel described those attacks as retaliation for a Hezbollah assault.

The continuing violence has also renewed debate in Beirut over the framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel in June. The agreement envisages a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups, including Hezbollah.

Tensions between Israel and Lebanon have escalated since the wider regional conflict began in 2023, with Hezbollah becoming involved in support of Iran. Lebanese authorities say Israeli military operations have killed more than 4,300 people in Lebanon.
