Israel has donated its first batch of ambulances, medical equipment and wheelchairs to Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare and emergency response systems.
The donation was made by Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, on behalf of the Israeli government. It was received at the Port of Ashdod by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Ufochukwu.
Speaking during the handover, the ambassador thanked the Israeli government for the timely support, saying the donated equipment would help improve healthcare delivery and emergency services, particularly in underserved communities.
The consignment includes fully equipped ambulances, modern medical devices and mobility aids such as wheelchairs. The items are expected to be distributed to hospitals and emergency centres across Nigeria to support patient care and disaster response.
Ambassador Ufochukwu described the donation as a demonstration of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, while highlighting the growing cooperation between Nigeria and Israel in healthcare, humanitarian assistance and technology transfer.
The handover ceremony was attended by officials from Magen David Adom, representatives of Israel’s Ministry of Health and members of the Nigerian Embassy in Tel Aviv.
The initiative also reflects Israel’s stated commitment to supporting Nigeria’s efforts to expand access to healthcare and build a more resilient health system.
