Iran says it is on the verge of finalising an agreement with Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, raising hopes of easing tensions in one of the world's most important shipping routes. Iranian officials said both countries have agreed on the geographical coordinates for new maritime transit lanes, with a formal announcement expected soon.
The proposed agreement comes as diplomatic efforts continue to reduce tensions following the recent Iran-Israel conflict. However, disagreements remain over maritime service charges and the removal of the US naval blockade, which Tehran says is a key condition for fully reopening the waterway.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump insisted the Pentagon has sufficient weapons stockpiles despite reports of shortages, while also vowing to investigate officials responsible for leaking defence information.
Elsewhere in the region, Yemen's Houthi movement claimed responsibility for attacks on two Saudi oil tankers near Yanbu Port and in the Gulf of Aden. Israel also continued air strikes in southern Lebanon following the deaths of two Israeli soldiers in an explosion near Majdal Selem.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces carried out fresh raids across several areas, including the Qalandiya refugee camp, where dozens of Palestinians were reportedly arrested and several others injured. Humanitarian agencies also reported continued displacement and destruction in parts of Gaza and southern Lebanon as the broader regional conflict remains unresolved.
