Iran, Oman Near Final Agreement on Strait of Hormuz Talks.

Iran says negotiations with Oman over the future of the Strait of Hormuz have entered their final stage, following US President Donald Trump's decision to suspend a planned military strike on Iran to allow diplomatic efforts to continue.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the discussions are progressing toward an agreement, while Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stressed that the talks are focused on establishing a mutual transit mechanism with Oman. He said the negotiations are bilateral and are not linked to the reopening or closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump announced on Saturday that he had called off a planned attack after Iran and several Middle Eastern countries requested more time for diplomacy. According to him, both sides have agreed on the basic framework of a deal that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and address concerns over Iran's nuclear program.

Meanwhile, Iran's acting defense minister said the country treats every external threat as credible and continues to strengthen its military preparedness and deterrence capabilities.

Regional leaders have also intensified diplomatic contacts. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged dialogue and efforts to reduce tensions during a phone conversation with President Trump. Jordan and Bahrain also discussed regional stability, while Qatar and Iran held talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

In Washington, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran must end efforts to export its revolution, warning that Tehran's policies would only change if the cost of continuing them became too high.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog described Iran as a long-term strategic threat, citing its nuclear ambitions, missile development, regional influence, and support for armed groups.

The latest developments come as mediators continue working to revive a broader US-Iran understanding, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a central issue in ongoing diplomatic efforts.
