Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have commenced the sorting and counting of votes at Polling Unit 39, Ward 4, in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State.
The exercise began shortly after voting ended at the polling unit during the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
INEC officials were seen sorting ballot papers according to political parties and candidates before proceeding with the counting of votes. Party agents and other stakeholders were present to monitor the process and witness the announcement of the results.
The sorting and counting mark the next stage of the electoral process following voter accreditation and voting. Polling officials are expected to document the results and transmit them in accordance with INEC procedures.
The Osun governorship election is being contested by candidates from various political parties, including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election.
The election is taking place across all 30 local government areas of the state amid heightened political interest and security arrangements.
The final outcome will determine who will govern Osun State for the next four years.
