Google Pixel 11 Pro Set for Major Upgrades as Launch Nears

Google is expected to introduce several major improvements with the Pixel 11 Pro, including a new processor, upgraded connectivity, more storage and enhanced camera capabilities.

The new smartphone is expected to be unveiled at Google’s Made by Google event on August 12, following months of leaks and reports about the company’s next flagship device.

One of the biggest expected changes is the introduction of Google’s Tensor G6 processor. The chip is reportedly being manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, compared with the 3nm Tensor G5 found in the Pixel 10 Pro. The new processor is expected to improve performance, power efficiency and heat management.

The Pixel 11 Pro is also rumored to replace Samsung’s modem with MediaTek’s M90 modem. The change could improve cellular connectivity and signal reliability while reducing power consumption. The M90 is reportedly capable of download speeds of up to 12Gbps.

Another significant change could be storage. Google is reportedly dropping the 128GB version and making 256GB the entry-level storage option. However, the base model may come with 12GB of RAM, compared with 16GB on the Pixel 10 Pro.

The Pixel 11 Pro could also introduce a new rear notification light known as “HiLight.” Reports suggest the circular LED could replace the thermometer sensor and provide lighting effects for notifications, contacts and interactions with Google’s Gemini AI assistant.

Camera performance is expected to receive an upgrade as well. Following the Pixel 10 Pro’s 100x Pro Res Zoom feature, the Pixel 11 Pro is reportedly set to support up to 120x zoom, potentially giving users greater long-distance shooting capabilities.

Despite these improvements, the rumored battery capacity is slightly lower at 4,850mAh, compared with 4,870mAh on the Pixel 10 Pro. However, the more efficient processor and modem could help offset the reduction.

The Pixel 11 Pro is also expected to retain a 6.3-inch 120Hz Super Actua OLED display, a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide camera, 48MP telephoto camera and 42MP front camera.

With its expected performance, connectivity, storage and camera upgrades, the Pixel 11 Pro could represent a more substantial improvement over the Pixel 10 Pro than the previous generation.
